How do you choose the right heat pump for your bedroom or office?
Choosing the right sized heat pump for your home is important to ensure optimum comfort levels, particularly in the colder months.
If you are looking to heat or cool just one room such as a bedroom, office or small living room, then there are a variety of options available - but which is best? Heat pumps are the most energy efficint form of electric heating - but is that overkill for a small room?
For each room the best approach is to calculate the heating requirement reflecting the size of the room, the amount of windows and whether or not it is insulated. For rooms where the heating need is greater than 2.4 kW we recommend using a heat pump - for smaller rooms a thermostatically controlled panel heater may be sufficient.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps no longer have to be big and bulky. The new modern heat pumps can be super quiet with slim facades, perfect for discreet heating in smaller rooms. Many models also have WiFi so you can control your heat pump from anywhere via your smartphone or tablet.
The advantage of heat pumps (in addition to being very efficient) is that they can also cool in summer which for bedrooms can be a big plus on hot sticky nights.
Panel Heaters
For smaller rooms slimline panel heaters with a thermostat and timer are a good option. The Dimplex system also has wifi so that you can set the heating to turn on and off to a schedule as needed.
Timers
For both the heat pump & panel heater you can save energy by using the timer to warm the room just before you get home & switch off when you don’t need it.
